ABOUT Athika Palagaram RECIPE

A healthy dish ,prepared by soaking mini urad dal vadai in sweet coconut milk.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 1/2 cups semi thick coconut milk
  2. Sugar 4 tbsp(you can add to your taste)
  3. Cardamom powder 1/2 tesp
  4. Urad dal 1/2 cup
  5. Water as required
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Oil to shallow fry

Instructions

  1. Soak urad dal for half an hour
  2. In a bowl add coconut milk ,sugar and cardamom powder ,mix well to melt the sugar
  3. In a mixer jar grind urad dal with little water to a fine paste
  4. Remove add salt ,mix well
  5. Place a deep cooking pan on medium flame
  6. Add oil,once hot ,drop small gooseberry size batter in the oil.Repeat with the remaining batter.
  7. Fry golden brown ,remove and add them to the coconut milk mixture
  8. Let soak for 15 to 20 minutes.
  9. Delicious athika palagaram is ready to serve in a bowl with coconut milk.
