Khatta Meetha Dhokla

Ingredients to make Khatta Meetha Dhokla

  • 1 cup idli rava
  • 1/4cup dhuli urad dal
  • 1/2 cup thick sour yogurt
  • 2-3 tbsp water for grinding
  • 1tsp eno
  • 1/2tsp oil for greasing
  • Salt to taste
  • 2tsp black pepper powder
  • For tempering
  • 1tsp oil
  • 2Tsp Mustard seeds
  • Slitted green chillies
  • Chopped Coriander
  • Pinch of salt

How to make Khatta Meetha Dhokla

  1. Soak the urad dal for minimum 2hours. Grind to a fine paste using water as required and add idli rawa to it. Pour the batter in a deep bowl and add the sour yogurt,stir well and keep the batter to ferment overnight.
  2. Add salt to the fermented batter and mix . The batter should be thick like the idli batter. Grease the dhokla mould with oil. Add water in the steamer and let the water come to a boil. Add eno to the batter and stir quickly.
  3. Sprinkle with black pepper powder and place the mould with batter in the steamer. Cover and steam for 20 minutes or more till a knife inserted in the dhokla comes out clean.
  4. In a pan put oil and add mustard seeds, once splutters add green chillies, chopped coriander and salt. Spread the tempering over the warm dhokla. Slice the khatta dhokla and enjoy with chutney. HAPPY COOKING !!
