Cracked Wheat (Dalia) Idli

Ingredients to make Cracked Wheat (Dalia) Idli

  • 1 cup urad dal
  • 2 Cups Cracked wheat (Dalia)
  • oil for Tadka
  • Rai 1 tsp
  • jeera 1 tsp
  • hing a pinch
  • Few curry leaves
  • coriander leaves 1/2 bunch
  • chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • salt to taste

How to make Cracked Wheat (Dalia) Idli

  1. Soak Urad dal and Dalia separately for 3 hours.
  2. Grind the soaked urad dal first.
  3. Squeeze out the dalia to remove the water. Grind 4-5 tsp dalia.
  4. Mix it with the urad dal mixture and add the remaining soaked dalia to it.
  5. Add salt to taste. Keep the mixture for 5-6 hours for fermentation. If it is fermented properly then the idlis become soft and fluffy.
  6. Make small idlis as usual.
  7. Heat some oil for tadka, add rai, jeera and hing in it. Add curry leaves, chilli powder and corriander leaves in it.
