Ingredients to make Chana Batata

  • Half kg black chana
  • 250 grams potatoes
  • 1 ball of tamarind about 25 grams
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp rai or mustard seeds
  • Coriander leaves to garnish

How to make Chana Batata

  1. Soak chana in good amount of water, overnight.
  2. Wash change water of chana and put to boil with salt.
  3. Boil potatoes too.
  4. Soak tamarind ball in a cup of water remove pulp in a while.
  5. Peel boil potatoes and keep aside.
  6. Cool potatoes and cut small wedges.
  7. Remove all water from chana.
  8. Take a pan 1 tspn of oil to splutter mustard and curry leaves.
  9. Now add salt to taste, chana and potatoes, stir well.
  10. To this, sprinkle the red chilli powder all over and mix well.
  11. Now add the tamarind and mix all well.
  12. Garnish and remove from the stove.
  13. Enjoy hot or cold.
  14. Optional to add little sugar when boiling tamarind.
