ABOUT Crab Korma(Bengali kakrar jhal) RECIPE

Crab corma / Kakrar jhal is one of the most favorite dish is me and my son . I love to make various preparations with fresh carb . Kakrar jhal is a dish which belong from Bengal , which is in the eastern coastal regain of India and is situated near the sea Bay of Bengal . In my house my Lovely Grandma prepared various of crab dishes, this is one of them.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Crabs - 8 no ( clean it and separate the legs and crush it slightly )
  2. Onion paste - 2 large no
  3. Ginger and garlic paste - 3 teaspoons
  4. Tomato puree - 3 tablespoons
  5. Green chilies paste - 1 teaspoon
  6. Red chilly paste - 2 teaspoons
  7. White mustard seeds paste - 1 teaspoon
  8. Cumin seeds powder - 2 teaspoons
  9. Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
  10. Shahi garam masala powder - 1 teaspoon
  11. Coriander leaves - 1/2 cup chopped
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  14. Mustard oil - 4 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. Clean the crabs and rub with little salt and turmeric powder mix well .
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a pan .
  3. Fry the crabs till they turns red in colour. Keep aside .
  4. Heat remaining oil same pan, add onion paste and fry till it turns light brown. Then add ginger and garlic paste fry till the raw smell disappear .
  5. Add cumin powder and turmeric powder stir for 30 second .
  6. Add green chilly paste , red chilly paste , tomato puree and mustard paste. Fry for 5 minutes.
  7. Then add salt , sugar and fried crabs . Stir continuously for 2 minutes , add little water and cover it for few minutes or till the oil separate from the sides of the pan .
  8. Then add shahi garam masala powder and chopped coriander leaves and stir well .
  9. Now Kakrar Jhal or Crab Corma is ready to serve .
  10. This spicy delicious Crab Corma serve with only hot steamed rice.
