ABOUT Sukha Gosht RECIPE

A typical dish made on eid festival on the konkan belt. Its served with sandan or sanna which is very much like sweet idlis. will be posting that recipe too.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Mutton - 1 kg
  2. Turmeric Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  3. Ginger Paste - 1 tablespoon
  4. Garlic paste - 1 Tablespoon
  5. Onions - 4 medium (chopped finely)
  6. Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
  7. Desiccated coconut - 3 teaspoon
  8. Dried whole red chillies - 4 or 5
  9. Cinnamon stick - 1 inch piece
  10. ghee - as required
  11. coriander , green chillies and fried onions to garnish.

Instructions

  1. Grind together desiccated coconut and dried red chillies and keep it aside.
  2. Marinate the mutton for 45 minutes with turmeric, salt, ginger and garlic paste.
  3. In a pan, heat oil, add the cinnamon stick, chopped onions and fry till onions get translucent. Add the mutton and fry on a high flame for about 10 minutes so that its juices get sealed.
  4. Add a cup of water and let the meat cook on a low flame for about 20 minutes.
  5. By this time the mutton is half done. Add the coconut and red chilly paste, garam masala powder and let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add half a cup of warm water and close the lid. Cook it for another 15 minutes.
  7. Let the water evaporate, stir the contents carefully without breaking the mutton pieces.
  8. Garnish with chopped green coriander and chopped green chillies and serve with rice , chapati or sanna.
