ABOUT Egg Pasties RECIPE

Flaky melt in the mouth crust, filled with delicious egg, veggies and cheese and baked to perfection.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For the vegetable curry :
  2. Chopped onion - 1
  3. Chopped bean - 1/2 cup
  4. Chopped carrots - 1/4 th cup
  5. Chopped cabbage - 1/2 cup
  6. Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
  7. Red Chilly powder - 1 tsp
  8. Garam masala powder - 1/4 th tsp
  9. Salt as per taste
  10. Refined oil as required
  11. Other Ingredients :
  12. Boiled eggs - 2
  13. Mozzarella or processed cheese
  14. For outer covering :
  15. Maida - 1.25 cups
  16. Cold Butter - 1/2 cup
  17. Ice cold water - 3 tbsp

Instructions

  1. To make the vegetable curry, heat a pan with little oil.
  2. Add chopped onion and saute till golden brown. Add the ginger garlic paste and stir.
  3. Now add the chopped vegetables, the powdered masalas, salt and cook till done. Keep aside once done to chill.
  4. To make the outer coating, chop the cold butter into small cubes.
  5. Then put the maida and chopped cold butter in a blender.
  6. Pulsate for few seconds in 3 pulses to mix the butter with the maida.
  7. Now add the water and continue the pulsating till everything comes together.
  8. Take this mix into a bowl and knead lightly. Cover it with a cling film and refrigerate for an hour.
  9. Cut the boiled eggs into 4 pieces each and grate the cheese as well.
  10. Now roll the cold dough and cut into medium sizes rounds.
  11. Place the grated cheese in the middle, followed by the vegetable curry on it.
  12. Then place the sliced egg on it.
  13. Apply little water on the edges of the round.
  14. Bring the top of the round to bottom, to seal and form the shape of a gujiya. Press the ends using a fork.
  15. Now refrigerate again for 2-3 hours.
  16. Bake them at 180 degree Celsius, in a preheated oven for 20-25 minutes.
