#Wheat crunch

Ingredients to make #Wheat crunch

  • Whole wheat grains 1 cup
  • Yellow food color 1/4tesp
  • baking soda 1/4 tesp
  • cumin Seed 1 tbsp
  • fennel seeds 1 tbsp
  • Black pepper corns 8
  • cloves 5
  • Whole red chilli 4
  • rock salt 1 tbsp
  • Chaat masala 1 tbsp
  • Powdered sugar 1 Tsp
  • oil to deep fry

How to make #Wheat crunch

  1. Wash and soak wheat grains for 8 hours with yellow food colour and baking soda.
  2. Drain wheat grains and spread on clean cloth in shade for an hour or two.
  3. Dry roast cumin seeds, fennel seeds, cloves, black pepper and whole red chilli. Grind on cooling.
  4. In ground powder mix chaat masala, rock salt and sugar powder.
  5. Heat oil in a wok. Deep fry whole wheat grains on high in small batches.
  6. Check oil heat by dropping 3-4 grains. If they come up in 5-10 seconds oil is ready to fry grains. Take this check before every batch.
  7. Drop small batch of grains in hot oil. When grains come up set the flame on medium. Fry till bubbles almost disappear.
  8. Drain into a seive to strain excess oil.
  9. When all done sprinkle prepared masala powder over and mix. On cooling store in air tight jar.
  10. Happy cooking!

My Tip:

If grains dropped in less hot oil they will get too hard.
