Ingredients to make Khameeri roti

  • 400 grams Whole wheat flour
  • 1 and 1/2 tsp fresh yeast
  • 125 ml warm water
  • Butter to grease
  • Flour to Dust
  • Salt according to taste

How to make Khameeri roti

  1. Pour 125 ml warm water into a cup and put in the yeast. Keep aside.
  2. Sieve the flour along with the salt into a bowl or large plate.
  3. Make a well form in between this flour mixture and pour in 1 cup of water.
  4. Knead well to make a dough that is stiff. Let this rest for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Next, punch the stiff dough and pour in the yeast mixture. Knead again till the dough becomes smooth but not sticky.
  6. Then cover this dough with a plastic wrap and keep aside for 25-30 minutes.
  7. After this time period, divide the dough into 8 round portions of uniform shape and size. Place the dough balls on a floured surface and roll into 8 inches wide each.
  8. You can opt to cook these rotis in a tandoor for 2 minutes or bake them at 180 degree celsius in a greased baking tray for 5 minutes.
  9. Serve hot alongside your favourite veg or non-veg curry.
