Gud ki Tairi

Ingredients to make Gud ki Tairi

  • 1 cup rice
  • 1/2 cup grated jaggery
  • 1 cup water and more for rice
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tbsp raisins
  • 1 tsp saunf
  • Few sliced pieces of coconut
  • 1 tbsp cashewnuts

How to make Gud ki Tairi

  1. Soak and keep rice for half hr.
  2. Soak the grated jaggery in a cup of water and keep aside till it dissolves.
  3. Add ghee in a cooker and saute coconut slices, raisins and cashewnuts and keep half aside
  4. In the same ghee add saunf and add jaggery solution after straining it.
  5. Add a pinch of salt and rice to it.add more water to cover the rice.
  6. Cover the lid and cook for 2 whistles and sometime more on low flame.
  7. Let the steam go, open the cooker and serve the rice hot .you can garnish more with cashews, raisins and coconut slices.

My Tip:

Cook the rice for sometime more than normal white rice as being sweet with jaggery, it takes little longer to cook properly.
