Ingredients to make Thiruvatirai kali

  • Boiled rice 100gms
  • moong dal split 50gms
  • jaggery grated 100.gms
  • elaichi powder 1 tea spoon
  • ghee 75gms
  • cashew 10 numbers

How to make Thiruvatirai kali

  1. Dry roast rice in a Kadai till aroma comes
  2. Dry roast day till aroma comes
  3. Let it cool
  4. Powder both together coarsely like rawa
  5. In a Kadai boil 4 cups of water
  6. Add the powder in it and stir constantly. No lumps should be found
  7. After it is nicely cooked add grated Jagger and stir well add elaichi powder and addghee often when ever needed
  8. Fry cashew in ghee and add to the kali

My Tip:

The powder should not be too coarse. This will be made in the month of December(margazhi) in star thiruvathirai
