Peppery Corn & Peas Rice

Ingredients to make Peppery Corn & Peas Rice

  • Basmati rice 2 cups
  • Sweetcorn Kernels 1 cup
  • Frozen/ Fresh peas 1 cup
  • Green chilies 2
  • jeera 1 tsp
  • star anise 1
  • cloves 2
  • cinnamon 1/2 inch stick
  • pepper 2 - 3 tsp or as per taste
  • salt as needed
  • water 3 Cups
  • Oil or ghee 2 tblsps

How to make Peppery Corn & Peas Rice

  1. Soak basmati rice for half an hour. Also if using frozen peas and corn soak the same too in water. Or else you could skip this step.
  2. After half an hour, cook the basmati rice in either way you wish to. I used a rice cooker.
  3. Meanwhile in a kadai, add ghee or oil. Once hot, add in the whole spices, add jeera let it splutter.
  4. Add green chillies, saute for a second and add in peas and corn kernels.
  5. Cover the pan till the corn & peas are cooked.
  6. Once cooked add salt and pepper and saute for a min or two.
  7. In the meantime, the rice also would have got cooked along.
  8. Add in the cooked rice and mix well and turn off the flame.
  9. Check for salt and pepper. The hot & sweet rice is ready to be served.

My Tip:

I added some oil while cooking rice so that i get seperate grains.
