Ingredients to make Sura( shark) puttu

  • Shark fillets 1/2 kg
  • onion finely chopped 1 cup
  • green chillies finely chopped 2 tsp
  • garlic cloves 10
  • ginger finely chopped 1 tsp
  • turmeric powder 2tsp
  • chilli powder 1 tsp
  • pepper powder 1 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • To Temper
  • mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • urad dal 1 tsp
  • curry leaves 1 sprig

How to make Sura( shark) puttu

  1. Boil the fish fillet with salt and a tsp of turmeric powder.
  2. Drain the water and allow the fish to cool. Scramble the fish after removing the skin .
  3. In a wok add oil and add the ingredients for tempering.
  4. Add the onion, garlic cloves, green chillies and ginger and the onions are translucent.
  5. Add the scrambled fish, salt and chilli powder. Saute for a minute or two until the fish blends with the masala.
  6. Add pepper powder and ur Sura puttu is ready to serve.
