ABOUT Moonga Cha Birada ( Sprouted Moong Curry ) RECIPE

This is an old recipe of the times when there were no electric grinders in the kitchen. My nani used to grind on "Pata Varvanta ( Rectangle morter and Cylindrical pestle.) This is Sprouted moong in Onion tomato and coconut gravy.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Sprouted moong 1 cup
  2. Onion 3 chopped big
  3. Tomato 2 big
  4. Coconut grated 1/2 cup (big)
  5. Chilli powder 1 tsp ( to taste)
  6. Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  7. Garam masala 1 tsp ( to taste)
  8. Ginger grated 1/2 tsp
  9. Garlic pods 4 to 5
  10. Curry patta few
  11. Coriander leaves finely chopped for garnish 1 tsp
  12. Oil for seasoning 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Wash Sprouts property and drain in a sieve.
  2. Pressure cook them by adding little water ( 1/2 to 3/4 th cup)
  3. Let it cook for 3 whistles maximum. Keep aside.
  4. Chop Onions and grind them with ginger and garlic.
  5. Grind without adding any water.
  6. Heat oil in a pan and fry the onions first. Add all masala after 3 minutes
  7. After sautéing for few minutes add blended Tomatoes and coconut
  8. Saute for 5 minutes. Add cooked moong sprouts.
  9. Let everything cook on a high flame and mix well. Add water if required.
  10. Your moong sprouts are ready.
  11. Garnish with coriander leaves
  12. Serve
