Ingredients to make Moonga cha birada.( sprouted moong curry )

  • Sprouted moong 1 cup.
  • Onion 3 chopped big.
  • Tomato 2 big.
  • Coconut grated 1/2 cup.(big).
  • Chilli powder 1 tsp ( to taste).
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masaala 1 tsp ( to taste).
  • Ginger grated 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic pods 4 to5.
  • Curry patta few
  • Coriander leaves finely chopped for Garnish 1 tsp
  • Oil for seasoning. 1 tsp

How to make Moonga cha birada.( sprouted moong curry )

  1. Wash Sprouts property and drain in a sieve.
  2. Pressure cook them by adding just needed water ( 1/2 to 3/4 th cup.
  3. Let it cook for 3 whistles maximum. Keep aside.
  4. Chop Onions big and grind them with ginger and garlic.
  5. Grind without adding any water.
  6. Heat oil in a pan and fry the onions first. Add all masala after 3 minutes
  7. After sautéing for few minutes add blended Tomatoes and coconut shreded.
  8. Saute for 5 minutes. Add cooked moong sprouts.
  9. Let everything cook on a high flame and mix well. Add water if required.
  10. Your moong sprouts are ready.
  11. Garnish with coriander leaves finely chopped.
My Tip: Don't over cook Sprouts as we will boil it with all masala again. The shreded coconut big gives a nice crunch to the curry. You can eat this with roti and rice both. Coconut adds a little sweetness to the gravy so don't add any sugar or jaggery.
