Ingredients to make Moong dal kadi

  • moong dal 1 cup ( soaked for 2 hours)
  • dahi 1.5 cup
  • besan 2 tsp
  • ginger 1" piece crushed
  • Green chilli 1(finely chopped)
  • salt 1.5 tsp+1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • dhania powder 1/2tsp
  • Garam masala 1/2 tsp
  • coriander seeds whole 1/2 tsp
  • jeera 1/2 tsp
  • Heeng. 1/4 tsp
  • methi dana 1/4 tsp
  • mustard oil 2tbsp
  • For tempering
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • Whole red chill. 2
  • coriander leaves to garnish

How to make Moong dal kadi

  1. Take all the required ingredients at the kitchen counter
  2. Make a coarse paste of dal.divide the paste into two parts. Take one and add dahi and besan and mix well keep it aside
  3. Heat oil in a pan
  4. Take rest of the dal add salt and make pakoras out of it on medium heat
  5. In same oil add coriander seeds,jeers,methi dana and heeng.let it crackle add ginger green chilli, chilli powder turmeric garam Masala, dhania powder immediately add the dahi mix and two cup of water
  6. Add salt and bring it to boil continuaselly stirring it
  7. Cook on medium low till the kadi consistency. Add pakoras and cook for another 5 minutes
  8. Make a tempering and pour on prepared kadi
  9. Enjoy with steamed rice

My Tip:

Do not leave the kadi unattended till the first boil
