Ingredients to make Wallago catfish in Red Gravy

  • For marinating the fish :
  • Wallago catfish 8 pieces
  • Salt as required
  • Turmeric powder 2 teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder 2 teaspoon
  • For gravy :
  • 2 to 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 big onions paste
  • Ginger and garlic paste 2 tablespoons
  • Yogurt 2 Tablespoons
  • Tomato puree ½ cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chilli powder 2 teaspoons
  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoons
  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoons
  • Pinch of sugar
  • Some cashew nuts
  • Some Raisins

How to make Wallago catfish in Red Gravy

  1. Wash the fish and marinate with salt, turmeric powder and red chilli powder and keep it for 15 minutes.
  2. Take a pan and heat the oil. Fry the marinated fish in both sides. Keep aside.
  3. At the same time take another pan. Heat the oil and fry cinnamon sticks.
  4. Add onions paste and fry until brown.
  5. Add ginger and garlic paste and mix.
  6. Now add thick curd and salt. Mix very well.
  7. Next add tomato puree and mix.
  8. Now add all the masala powder like red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and pinch of sugar.
  9. Add some water.
  10. Add some cashew nuts and raisins.
  11. Now add the fried fishes gently.
  12. When the gravy is thick serve hot.
My Tip: One can also use cashew nuts paste and raisins paste.
