Semiya Upma

Ingredients to make Semiya Upma

  • 1 cup Semiya/Vermicelli
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 1 inch ginger (chopped)
  • 1 carrot (shredded)
  • 1 green chilli (chopped)
  • 1 stalk of curry leaves
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • salt to taste

How to make Semiya Upma

  1. Heat the oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.
  2. Add onion, ginger, green chilli, curry leaves and sauté until onions turn translucent.
  3. Add the shredded carrot and sauté for a couple of minutes. Now add the semiya/vermicelli and sauté for a couple of minutes.
  4. Add 1 ½ cup of water and salt and cook covered until the water is absorbed. Serve hot!
