Chana Daal Stew

Ingredients to make Chana Daal Stew

  • Chana daal - 200 gm
  • Tomatoes - 5, chopped
  • Onions - 4, chopped
  • Green chilies - 6, cut in length
  • Garlic cloves - 10
  • Oil - 4 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Dhaniya powder - 1 tsp
  • Salt as required

How to make Chana Daal Stew

  1. Wash and soak chana daal in water for at least 4 hours.
  2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker add garam masala powder and onions, fry the onions till transparent then add tomatoes, green chilies, garlic cloves and saute for 5 mins. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt and dhaniya powder, saute for 2 mins.
  3. Add daal and one glass of water pressure cook for 4 whistles or till daal becomes soft.
  4. Chana dal stew is ready to serve.
