Mooli Dal / Moolo Diye Bhaja Moong Dal

Ingredients to make Mooli Dal / Moolo Diye Bhaja Moong Dal

  • Yellow moong dal - 1 Cup
  • White radish, cut into big slices - 2 Large
  • Panch Phoron - 1/2 tsp
  • Dry Red Chilli - 1
  • Green Chilli - 2
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Ginger Paste - 1/3 tsp
  • Cumin Powder - 1 tsp
  • Coriander Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Oil - as needed
  • Coriander Leaves - 1 tbsp, chopped

How to make Mooli Dal / Moolo Diye Bhaja Moong Dal

  1. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pressure cooker. Add washed and dried yellow moong dal. Saute for 2-3 minutes then add salt.
  2. Add 2 cups of water and pressure cook for 1-2 whistles.
  3. In a nonstick pan heat oil. Add dry red chilli, ginger paste and panch phoron. Saute for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and green chilli. Saute for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add the radish pieces and salt. Cover and cook for 5-6 minutes and then add the moong dal. If you want thin dal, then add some hot water to it. Cover and cook for another 7-8 minutes.
  6. Simmer for 5 minutes or until the radish pieces are well cooked. Check for salt and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve with hot rice.
