Little millet(Saamai) lemon rice

Ingredients to make Little millet(Saamai) lemon rice

  • 1  cup little millet (saamai)
  • 1.5  cup water
  • 1 or 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard
  • 1/2 tsp Urid dal
  • 2 green chillies, chopped finely
  • 10 curry leaves
  • 10 roasted peanuts
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp asafoetdia powder
  • 3 tbsp gingely oil
  • Salt

How to make Little millet(Saamai) lemon rice

  1. Wash the rice gently and pressure cook with 1.5  cup of water for 2- 4 whistles on low flame.
  2. Spread the rice in a plate and add a tsp of oil and few chopped curry leaves over the rice.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan on medium heat. Add mustard and urid dal. When urid dal turns golden brown add the chopped green chillies and curry leaves, and stir for few seconds.
  4. Add turmeric powder, asafoetdia powder and mix it well.
  5. Now add the cooked rice, salt and lemon juice. Switch off the flame and mix well. Serve it with potato fry.
My Tip: Generally millets require less salt and oil so be careful while adding salt. You can also add 1 red chilly and 1 green
