Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For Marintion
  2. Chicken 1/2 kg
  3. Turmeric powder 1/2tsp
  4. Red chilli powder 1/2tsp
  5. Curd 2 tbsp
  6. Lemon juice 2tsp
  7. Ginger and garlic paste 1tsp
  8. Salt 1tsp
  9. For Masala ingredients are below:-
  10. Poppy Seeds - 1 tablespoon
  11. Whole black pepper - 1/2 tablespoon
  12. Dry red chillies - 6 nos
  13. Cinnamon stick - 2 inch
  14. Cloves - 6 nos
  15. Fennel seeds - 2 teaspoons
  16. Cumin Seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  17. For Gravy ingredients are below:-
  18. Oil - 4 tablespoons
  19. Onion - 1 no, finely chopped
  20. Curry leaves few
  21. Tomatoes - 2 no, blended to a smooth paste
  22. Curry leaves - 2 strings
  23. Salt - to taste
  24. Turmeric powder - as required
  25. Ginger garlic paste - 2 teaspoons

Instructions

  1. Wash chicken . Mix all the ingredients given for marinade and then mix with the chicken . Marinate it for minimum of 30 minutes to maximum of 8 hours or overnight.
  2. Dry roast the ingredients given for roasting and make a fine powder of it after it cools down .
  3. Heat oil in a thick bottom pan. Add curry leaves ,onion and saute until it turns translucent.
  4. Add the ginger garlic paste given for gravy. Saute for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Add tomato paste and cook until the oil separates from it.
  6. Add the dry roasted and powdered spices to the gravy. Add 1/2 cup - 1 cup of water to the pan and continue heating and stir well for few minutes.
  7. Add the chicken with its marinade. Continue cooking over a high heat, stirring constantly until the yogurt mix well with the chicken. Add salt and 1/2 cup of water. Mix well.
  8. Cover and cook for 5-10 minutes on low flame. After 5 minutes, stir often, as it help the sauce to a creamy consistency.
  9. Adjust the salt and serve hot.
