Dakor Na Methi Gota

Ingredients to make Dakor Na Methi Gota

  • 2 cup chickpea Flour (coarse)
  • 1 cup instant oats
  • 1 and 1/2 cup fresh fenugreek leaves finely chopped
  • 5 green chillies finely chopped
  • 8 peppercorn roughly crushed
  • 2 tsp coriander seeds roughly crushed
  • 1/4 tsp carom seeds ( Ajwain)
  • 4 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 cups yogurt (sour)
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • oil for frying
  • salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp sugar

How to make Dakor Na Methi Gota

  1. Wash, clean then finely chop the fenugreek leaves.
  2. Mix the chickpea flour and instant oats in a bowl. Add in all the ingredients except yogurt, baking soda and oil.
  3. Mix well, then add yogurt and make a semi solid batter. You can add a little water if it is too thick.
  4. Keep it aside for 15 minutes. Whisk it well till bubbles form.
  5. Heat oil in a frying pan. Once it is hot take 2 tbsp of the oil and pour it into the batter. Add baking soda and mix it with a spatula.
  6. Take a handful of batter and slowly drop small balls in the hot oil. Let them fry till they turn golden brown in colour.
  7. Transfer on absorbent paper to remove the excess oil.
  8. Serve hot with masala tea and fried green chillies.

My Tip:

Use coarse Bengal gram flour to get crispy gota. Adding yogurt will reduce the bitterness of the fenugreek leaves.
