Ingredients to make Chatpat chhole

  • salt
  • chickpeas [boiled] - 1 cup
  • Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
  • tamarind water - 1/2 cup
  • turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  • Chola masala - 1 tsp
  • Kasuri methi - 1 tsp
  • Whole garam masala [cardamom, tejpatta, cloves and cinnamon] - just a few
  • asafoetida - 1/4 th tsp
  • red chilly powder -1 tsp
  • onion [sliced] -1
  • refined oil/ghee
  • ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp

How to make Chatpat chhole

  1. heat some oil in pan, add asafoetida and tej patta [bay leaf].
  2. Now add the slices onion. saute
  3. Then add the ginger garlic paste and saute further.
  4. Add tomato puree
  5. Add all the powdered maslas and the whole garam masalas as well.
  6. Cook until the masala leaves oil and then add the boiled chickpeas.
  7. check for seasoning and then add the tamarind water. bring upto boil and serve.
