ABOUT Kache Kele ka kofta (Raw Banana/Plantains Kofta) with tomato curry RECIPE

Raw banana kofta with tomato curry is a very yummy and palatable recipe. It is a very simple recipe which can be served with chapati, naan, parantha, poori and rice.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. For koftas - 5 raw bananas
  2. 1 medium finely chopped onion
  3. 1-2 finely chopped green chili
  4. 1 tbsp grated ginger
  5. 1 tsp salt
  6. Corn Starch for coating the koftas
  7. For the curry : 2 tomato
  8. 1 onion
  9. 5-6 cashew
  10. 1-2 green chili
  11. A piece of ginger
  12. 1/2 tsp cumin seed
  13. 1/4 tsp coriander seed
  14. 1 cinnamon stick
  15. 1-2 green cardamom
  16. 1 black cardamom
  17. 1-2 bay leaves
  18. 1 tbsp oil
  19. 1 tbsp salt
  20. 1/2 tsp sugar
  21. 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  22. 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  23. 1 tsp garam masala powder
  24. 1/4 cup cream or 1/2 cup milk
  25. 1/2 cup water
  26. Oil for frying the koftas

Instructions

  1. Boil the raw bananas (either you can boil in a pressure cooker or microwave for five minutes) cool it for 5-6 minutes. Then peel and mash the bananas and mix all other ingredients except corn starch of koftas and mix well.
  2. Make a small bowl and roll them into round shape. coat with corn starch. Heat oil in a pan and fry it on medium flame until it becomes brown in color.
  3. For the gravy: Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seed, coriander seed, roughly chopped tomato, onion, green chili, ginger, cumin seed, coriander seed, cinnamon stick, green cardamom, black cardamom and bay leaves.
  4. Add 1/4 cup water and cook for 8-10 minutes. Turn off the stove. Cool it for some time. Blend it in a blender and make a puree.
  5. Heat oil in a pan. Add red chili powder, coriander powder. Add puree. Cook it for 5-6 minutes. Add 1/4 cup cream. Cook it for 2-3 minutes. Add water and cook it more for 4-5 minutes. Add salt, sugar and garam masala powder.
  6. Cook it for 1-2 minutes. Turn off the stove. Add koftas and cover with the lid.
  7. Koftas and curry are ready. Serve hot curry with raw banana koftas.
