Ingredients to make Poppy seed crusted honey lemon chicken

  • 8-10 medium sized chicken pieces (I used some with bones)
  • 2 tsp golden Honey
  • 3 tsps Lemon juice
  • 1 tsp freshly ground Pepper
  • 1 tsp ginger juice
  • 3 tbsps Poppy seeds
  • Rock salt to taste
  • 4 tbsps Sunflower Oil

How to make Poppy seed crusted honey lemon chicken

  1. Marinate the chicken with lemon juice, honey, pepper and ginger juice and rest it for an hour.
  2. Add the rock salt to this marinade.
  3. Heat the oil in a shallow non-stick pan on a medium flame.
  4. Take the chicken pieces one by one and coat it with the poppy seeds before frying them on the pan.
  5. Serve with your choice of accompaniments.

My Tip:

I used the juices from the marinade to make the egg bhurje so it complimented the chicken. Be careful to place a lid while frying such that it covers 3/4 th of the pan so the spluttering of the poppy seeds do not burn. If you cover the whole pan, then the chicken will release its juices and boil instead of frying. You can even chose to bake this instead of frying it on a pan.
