Macaroni Au Gratin

Ingredients to make Macaroni Au Gratin

  • 200 grams macaroni
  • 30 grams all-purpose flour
  • 55 grams butter
  • 200 grams cheese
  • 2 tbsp bread crumbs
  • 1/2 small sized onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon mustard, grounded
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 500 ml milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

How to make Macaroni Au Gratin

  1. Cook the macaroni as per the package directions and drain it. Then put it in a greased 2-qt. baking dish and keep it aside.
  2. Take a pan and melt the butter in it, then add in the flour and stir well. Gently pour in the milk and bring it to a boil.
  3. Cook for 2-3 minutes while stirring continuously. Then add the cheese, onion, worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and mustard together and cook until the cheese melts.
  4. Pour this cheesy mixture on top of the macaroni and mix it. Sprinkle the bread crumbs on top.
  5. Bake at 190° celsius for 30 minutes.
  6. Serve warm for best taste.

My Tip:

For every tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, you can substitute it with, 2 teaspoons soy sauce, 1/4 teaspoon lemon juice,1/4 teaspoon sugar and a dash of hot sauce.
