Margarita (Neapolitan) pizza

Ingredients to make Margarita (Neapolitan) pizza

  • 90g plain flour
  • 450g canned Tomatoes
  • 400g Mozzarella Cheese
  • 2 cups Water
  • 30g Yeast
  • 1.2 cup Olive oil
  • 2-3 Dried Red Chillies (peppers)
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Salt

How to make Margarita (Neapolitan) pizza

  1. Preheat oven to 220 C.
  2. Shape the flour into a well, a centre open, on a wooden/marble work surface.
  3. Place the yeast, salt and warm water in the center.Avoid the salt to come in contact with the yeast.
  4. Knead the dough vigorously with for 15-20 minutes until the dough is soft and smooth.
  5. Add a bit of water or flour and shape the dough into a ball.
  6. Cover with a plastic bowl and leave for 3-4 hours to rise double its volume.
  7. Pinch off 6 equal parts and cover with a sheet of plastic wrap and let them rise for about 45 minutes.
  8. Heat olive oil in a sauce pan . Add tomatoes, salt and pepper cook for 5-10 mins to make a sauce.
  9. Knead the dough and then using a roller flatten it.
  10. Spread an ample amount of tomato sauce. Cover with mozzarella and garnish with dried chillies
  11. Bake the pizza for 10-15 mins till crisp.
  12. Serve fresh out of the oven.
