ABOUT Classic Thick Crust Margherita Pizza RECIPE

A basic pizza with minimal toppings , if you do not like too much veggies or toppings then this simple yet flavourful , creamy pixza is an ideal choice for you. The pizza crust is fluffy , buttery soft at the centre but crispy at the edges . The aroma of the roasted garlic , slightly spicy taste of freshly ground black pepper , mild aroma of fresh basil leaves makes it so delectable and unique.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. All purpose flour 3 1/2 cup
  2. Water 1 1/3 cup
  3. Salt 3/4 tea spoon
  4. Garlic 4 pods , minced and roasted with little oil
  5. Olive oil 2 table spoon + 2 tsp
  6. Yeast 2 tea spoon
  7. Sugar 2 tsp
  8. Pizza sauce / tomato sauce 3/4 cup
  9. Cherry tomatoes 12 ripe and big
  10. Fresh basil leaves 12
  11. Mozzarella cheese slices 400 grams
  12. Black pepper 8 grind in a morter pastel
  13. Corn flour 4 tbsp

Instructions

  1. In a big bowl add flour , salt and sugar
  2. Take warm water ( not hot !) Mix yeast gently and cover for 10 minutes or until it is proofed
  3. Mix with flour , knead gently . If the dough is very hard add some more warm water . Dust a big plate with cornmeal and Knead the dough for 7-8 minutes .The dough should be soft and elastic . When you poke the dough it should come back slowly.
  4. Take a big bowl , grease with olive oil , put the dough in the bowl and keep in a warm place for 1-2 hours to rise
  5. 1-2 hours later the dough has risen and became double of its original size
  6. Punch it and release the air , knead again
  7. Divide the dough in 2 balls of equal size , cover and rest for 15 minutes
  8. Lightly grease a butter paper , dust some cornmeal and roll the pizza base to 6 inches thick base
  9. Apply roasted garlic and olive oil mixture on the base
  10. Apply tomato sauce
  11. Arrange mozzarella slices
  12. Arrange cherry tomato pieces , sprinkle ground black peppet
  13. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees for 30 minutes . Bake the pizza for 12 minutes in the middle rack and 5 minutes more in top rack
  14. Cool pizza for 15 minutes cut and serve hot with drinks and with garlic bread for a complete lunch or dinner
