About Dried Fish Curry Recipe

A scrumptious curry with dried anchovies. My grandma style curry with a special ingredient which brings adds its flavour and aroma to the dish.

Dried Fish Curry

Ingredients to make Dried Fish Curry

  • 50 gms Dried Anchovies
  • 4 sliced brinjals
  • 5 sliced shallots
  • 2" Maa Inji (curcuma amada)
  • 1 chopped tomato
  • Small gooseberry size tamarind
  • 2.5 tablespoon homemade sambar powder
  • 2 tablespoon gingelly oil
  • 1 Tableapoon thalippu vadagam(black Tempering mixture)
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 1 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves
  • Grind No.1 : 7 shallots
  • Half tomato
  • Grind No.2 : 1/3 cup grated coconut
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds

How to make Dried Fish Curry

  1. TAKE 7 SHALLOTS, ADD 1/2 A TOMATO, GRIND TO A COARSE PASTE
  2. ADD 5 SLICED SHALLOTS INTO 1/4 CUP TAMARIND EXTRACT
  3. ADD 10 GARLIC CLOVES, THE GROUND ONION- TOMATO PASTE
  4. ADD 2.5 TBSP SAMBAR POWDER
  5. ADD SALT TO TASTE, 1 CHOPPED TOMATO
  6. ADD 4 SLICED BRINJALS, 2 CUPS WATER, MIX
  7. HEAT 2 TBSP OIL, ADD 1 TSP MUSTARD SEEDS, ADD THE READY MIX
  8. COVER & COOK FOR 3 MINS
  9. SOAK 50 GMS DRIED ANCHOVIES (DRIED FISH) IN HOT WATER FOR 2 MINS, RUB & WASH WELL
  10. ADD 1 TBSP CRUSHED MANGO GINGER
  11. ADD 7-8 CRUSHED CURRY LEAVES
  12. ADD THE CLEANED ANCHOVIES, SIMMER FOR 2 MINS
  13. TAKE 1/4 CUP GRATED COCONUT, 1/2 TSP CUMIN SEEDS, GRIND TO A FINE PASTE
  14. ADD TO THE BOILING MIXTURE
  15. ADD 1 TBSP CHOPPED CORIANDER, TAKE OFF HEAT
