A popular irrestible Indo Chinese snack made with gobi florets, seasoned with spices and sauces.

Gobi Manchuria

Ingredients to make Gobi Manchuria

  • Gobi/cauliflower - 400grams (cut to bite size pieces)
  • For the batter:
  • Corn flour - 1/2cup
  • All purpose flour - 1cup
  • ginger garlic paste - 1/2tspn
  • pepper powder - 1/4tspn
  • salt - according to taste
  • For the sauce:
  • ginger pieces - 1tspn
  • garlic pieces - 2tspn
  • sugar - 1/4tspn
  • green chillies - 2 to 3 cut to fine slices
  • spring onions/ coriander leaves - handful
  • Soy sauce - 2tspn
  • green chilly sauce - 3tspn
  • Hot red chilly sauce - 4tspn
  • tomato sauce - 2tspn
  • salt - according to taste
  • pepper powder - little (optional)
  • Red peppers/ green capsicum - 1

How to make Gobi Manchuria

  1. Make thick coating consistency batter, add salt, pepper powder and ginger garlic paste.
  2. In a frying vessel add sufficient oil. Once oil is hot, add the gobi florets dipped with batter.
  3. Do not turn immediately as the binding of batter may get separated from gobi. Make sure you fry well on one side then turn. Fry well on both sides and transfer on tissue paper to absorb excess oil.
  4. For the sauce:
  5. In a cooking vessel add few spoons of oil, add ginger, garlic and chilly pieces. Add sugar. Fry for few seconds. Add capsicum pieces. Add soy sauce, hot chilly sauce, tomato ketchup, green chilly sauce, salt and pepper powder. Fry on low flame.
  6. Add the fried gobi florets. Garnish with spring onions or coriander leaves.
  7. Serve hot.
