Ingredients to make Bisibele bath and Bisibele bath powder

  • Toor daal 3/4 cup
  • Rice 1 1/4 cup
  • 2-3 carrot
  • Dried green peas 1/4 cup (soaked overnight)
  • 1 medium size kohlrabi/navilkosu (cut into small cubes)
  • Beans 1 cup
  • Onion 1 small
  • Grated Coconut 1/4 cup
  • Tamarind small ball size soaked in 1 cup water
  • salt as per taste
  • oil 2 tbsp
  • Ghee 3 tbsp
  • Hing 1 to 2 pinch
  • Curry leaves 8
  • Tomato 1
  • Jaggry 1/2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds 1/4 tsp
  • bisibele bath powder ingredients:
  • Oil 1 tsp
  • Chana dal 2 tsp
  • Urad dal 2 tsp
  • Dhaniya seeds 4 tsp
  • Clove 2
  • Cinnamon 4 (1/2 inch size each)
  • Kashmir red chili 5
  • Normal red chilli 2 (for spice)
  • Fenugreek seeds 1/8 tsp (7 seeds)
  • Mustered seeds 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin seeds 1/4 tsp
  • Poppy seeds 1 tsp

How to make Bisibele bath and Bisibele bath powder

  1. Boil all vegetables, toor daal, onion with salt.
  2. Cook the rice and keep it aside.
  3. Fry all the bisibele bath powder ingredients on a low flame.
  4. Grind everything to a fine powder (this is bisibele bath powder), then add coconut, water and again grind to a smooth paste.
  5. Transfer this paste to a big pan and add water, salt, jaggery. Let it boil for a few minutes. Now add cooked dal and the vegetables. Add a tablespoon of oil. Mix well and let it boil for a few more minutes. Keep stirring in between.
  6. Add rice, tamarind juice as per your taste and mix. Let it be on the stove for 5 more minutes on a low heat and then turn off the heat. Remember to stir in between.
  7. Heat 3 tbsp ghee and 1 tbsp oil in a ladle. Add hing, mustard seeds, curry leaves, tomato fry these til tomatoes soften. Put this on the bisi bele bath and mix well.
  8. Serve the Bisibele Bath with Boondi.
