Ingredients to make Jaisalmeri Kala Channa | Black Chickpeas Curry

  • Black Channa (Black Chick Pea) – 250 gms
  • Gram Flour (Besan) – ½ cup
  • Curd – ½ cup
  • Ginger garlic paste – ½ tsp
  • Chopped Onions – 1 cup
  • Grated Tomatoes – 1 cup
  • Salt, red chilly powder, Turmeric powder – As per taste
  • Cumin seeds (Jeera) – ½ tsp
  • Refined oil - 1 tbsp
  • Desi ghee – 1 tbsp
  • Asafoetida (Hing) – a pinch

How to make Jaisalmeri Kala Channa | Black Chickpeas Curry

  1. Soak the black channa overnight and boil them with salt.
  2. In a kadai, put refined oil and add jeera, ginger garlic and onions. Sauté and add all the spices.
  3. Add tomatoes and cook for 5 minutes. Add boiled channa and pour the mixture of besan and curd to channa. Cook for another 10 minutes.
  4. For tempering: In a separate pan take desi ghee, asafoetida and coloured red chilli powder. Add on top of earlier prepared channa and serve hot with Chapati.
