About Peixe Frito Recipe

Peixe Frito is a Goan fish preparation, the fish is marinated with the spices and is shallow fried with rava or semolina for a crispy exterior.

Peixe Frito

Ingredients to make Peixe Frito

  • Fish - 3 Medium Sized
  • red chilli powder - 2 tsp
  • turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  • pepper powder - 1 tsp
  • cumin powder - 1 tsp
  • vinegar - 1 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • oil for shallow frying
  • Rava or semolina - 1/2 cup

How to make Peixe Frito

  1. Clean the fish and season with salt.
  2. Make a paste with the spice powders and vinegar. Rub this paste on the fish all over and leave it to marinate for 20 to 30 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a kadhai on a medium flame. Coat the fish with rava on both sides and fry till it's cooked.
  4. Serve it hot.

My Tip:

Lemon juice or tamarind pulp can also be added to this recipe.
