ABOUT Onion Thoran RECIPE

At times we run out of vegetables or some ingredients. So at that time comes this thoran as saviour which is blessing in disguise as it is easy to prepare and less ingredients are required. Can be served with Roti/Rice.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Onions 4
  2. Curry Leaves-2 sprigs
  3. Green Chillies 3
  4. Coriander 2 sprigs
  5. Mozzarella cheese as per choice
  6. Black pepper and White pepper as per taste
  7. Hing a pinch
  8. Garam Masala a pinch
  9. Turmeric a pinch
  10. Chicken Masala a pinch
  11. Salt as per taste
  12. Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  13. Coconut shavings/small chunks a few

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in kadai, splutter mustard seeds and add curry leaves.
  2. Add chopped onions and fry until it turns translucent.
  3. Add all the powders mentioned along with salt except coriander.
  4. Now close the kadai with a lid and simmer it. As our elders always says food cooked on low flame tastes far better then on high flame. So let us follow it.
  5. Now once it turns completely brown and mushy, add coriander along with mozzarella cheese. Close the lid and turn the stove off. The heat will make the cheese melt. I have added little so it is not evident in the picture.
  6. But if someone prefers it to be more cheesy, please go ahead and add more.
  7. Serve hot.
  8. Coconut is not mandatory. As I mentioned it can be added to enhance the taste.
