Instant Honey Payasam

Ingredients to make Instant Honey Payasam

  • Hand pound rice - ½ cup
  • Grated jaggery - 1 cup
  • honey - 1 cup
  • Ghee - 4 tbsps + 1 tbsp for frying cashews
  • cashews - 10 nos
  • cardamom powder - ½ tsp
  • Dry ginger powder - 2 pinches

How to make Instant Honey Payasam

  1. Wash the rice and pressure cook adding 2 cups of water.
  2. Add 1/3 cup of water to the grated jaggery and keep this in the pressure cooker in a separate pan along with the rice.
  3. Cook the rice and jaggery for 6 to 8 whistles.
  4. Open the cooker after the pressure has been released, strain the melted jaggery and mix with the cooked rice.
  5. Cook over the medium flame, adding honey with 2 tbsp of ghee for 5 to 10 minutes.
  6. Add cardamom powder and dry ginger powder and add remaining ghee and mix well.
  7. Fry the cashews in ghee and add it to the payasam.
  8. Instant Honey payasam is ready for naivedyam.
