Green tomato kofta curry

Ingredients to make Green tomato kofta curry

  • green tomato - 1 kg
  • gram flour - 2 tbsp
  • salt to taste + 1/2 tsp
  • turmeric powder - 2 tsp
  • coriander powder - 1 tbsp
  • red chilli powder - 2 tsp
  • garam masala - 1/2 tsp
  • ginger garlic paste - 2 tbsp
  • onion paste - 2 tbsp
  • oil for frying for the gravy
  • cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • methi dana - 1/2 tsp
  • bread crumbs - 1 tbsp
  • coriander leaves for garnishing
  • A pinch of hing

How to make Green tomato kofta curry

  1. Wash and grate the tomatoes and drain the grated tomato and keep aside the drained tomato juice
  2. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan, crackle the cumin seeds and add the grated tomato, stir continuously.
  3. Add heeng, 1/2 tsp salt,1 tbsp ginger garlic paste and gram flour and cook it for 5 to 8 minutes.
  4. Cool, add bread crumbs and make the koftas. Fry till it become golden.
  5. Add more oil in the remaining oil add methi dana, ginger-garlic paste, saute it.
  6. Add onion paste and fry it till golden.
  7. Add in the dry spices and the remaining tomato juice.
  8. Add in 2 cup of water and boil the gravy for 5 minutes, add the kofta and continue for 5 more minutes with a lid on a low/sim flame.
  9. Garnish with coriander and serve with rice, roti or naan.
