Shallow fried poppers

Ingredients to make Shallow fried poppers

  • White oats 2 tblsps
  • Rava 2 tblspns
  • Rice flour 250 gms
  • Udad dal flour 100 gms
  • onion 2 medium, chopped fine
  • carrot 1, grated
  • green chillies 2, chopped fine
  • ginger 1 inch piece, grated
  • coriander leaves 1 handful chopped
  • Eno food salt 1 pkt
  • salt to taste

How to make Shallow fried poppers

  1. In a bowl, mix all the flours, salt, grated carrots, chopped onion, chillies and ginger.
  2. Add water and make a batter (like medu vada consistency).
  3. Place the gunthpangalu pan on the gas after applying oil in the depressions and light the gas.
  4. Put about 1/3 rd tsp oil in each depression.
  5. Pour the batter to 3/4th of each depression and then cover the pan.
  6. Once cooked, remove from the moulds and serve with chutney, pickle or sauce.

My Tip:

You can coarsely grind leftovers and use in the batter.
