Ingredients to make Spicy green gram balls

  • green gram - 2 cup
  • salt to taste
  • ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
  • asafoetida 1 tsp
  • red chili powder 1 tbsp
  • turmeric powder 1 + 2 tsp
  • coriander powder 1 tbsp
  • chopped onion 1/2 cups
  • chopped tomatoes 2 cup
  • lemon juice 1 tbsp
  • garam massala powder 1 tsp
  • dry mango powder 2 tsp
  • cumin seeds 1 tbsp
  • oil 2 tbsp
  • coriander leaves for garnishing

How to make Spicy green gram balls

  1. Soak the green gram for 4 to 6 hour at least, wash and remove the skin, blend till smooth with 1 glass of water.
  2. Heat 1 tsp oil in non stick pan, add 1 tsp salt, ginger garlic paste, asafoetida, 1 tsp turmeric and dal, mix well.
  3. Now heat 1 tsp oil in a non-stick pan and cook the batter till it becomes thick in consistency like a halwa.
  4. Cool down the mixture and divide into equal portions, then make the balls and keep aside.
  5. Heat the oil in a wok or a broth pan, pop the cumin, saute the onions.
  6. Now add the dry spices, cook for 2 minutes. Add chopped tomatoes and cook till the oil separates.
  7. Now add the balls and mix well with spices. Add lemon juice and garam masala powder.
  8. Stir for 2 minutes more, turn off the gas.
  9. Garnish with coriander serve hot along with tea.
