Cabbage Chicken

Ingredients to make Cabbage Chicken

  • Chicken with bone 1 1/2 kg
  • Cabbage medium 1 finely shredded
  • Salt to taste
  • Green chillies 5-6 either slit or paste
  • Turmeric 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder 1 tsp
  • coriander powder 1 tbsp
  • Onions sliced 2
  • Curry leaves few
  • Dry red chillies 4 to 5
  • Mustard seeds 1 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing few
  • Oil 5 tbsp

How to make Cabbage Chicken

  1. Marinate the chicken with all the spices and leave it on the counter.
  2. Heat the oil in a non stick pot, add the curry leaves, dry red chillies and the mustard seeds.
  3. As soon as they crackle, throw in the sliced onions and the green chillies.
  4. After they are almost done, add in the marinated chicken.
  5. Saute it on high flame for 4 to 5 mins.
  6. Next do not lower the flame completely, but let it simmer on medium flame.
  7. In between, keep checking while stirring. As cabbage releases a lot of water, do not add extra to it. Try to cook it on medium to high flame stirring it as and when possible.
  8. Garnish with coriander and serve hot.
