ABOUT Peas paneer burger RECIPE

These are a good source of fibre and potassium, which keeps all of our body cells functioning properly. Just when you thought that green peas are only used to add that extra punch to your savoury dishes.

Ingredients Serving: 1

  1. Green peas boiled 1/2 cup
  2. Paneer 200 grams
  3. Burger buns 2
  4. Green chilli 2
  5. Butter 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon
  6. Onion 1 medium
  7. Crushed black peppercorns 1 teaspoon
  8. Asafoetida 1/4 teaspoon
  9. Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon + a pinch
  10. Fresh mint spring 12-15
  11. Fresh coriander spring 12-15
  12. Potato peeled and grated 2 medium
  13. Breadcrumbs 1/4 cup
  14. Honey 1 teaspoon
  15. Salt to taste
  16. Tomato 2 medium
  17. Mayonnaise as required
  18. Tomato ketchup as required
  19. Icebergs lettuce leaves 8-9

Instructions

  1. Chop green chilli and put in a bowl. Heat butter in a pan.
  2. Cut onion into thick slices and put in the pan. Add crushed peppercorns and salt and let the onion caramelize
  3. Remove onion from the pan. Add chopped green chilli in the same pan and saute for a while.
  4. Add asafoetida and red chilli powder. Mix well and add green peas and toss well. Saute for 2 minutes and transfer peas mixture into a bowl. Cool to room temperature.
  5. Finely chop mint and coriander spring and add to green peas. Mix well. Add potatoes, grated paneer in the bowl and add breadcrumbs, honey and mix well.
  6. Add salt, crushed peppercorns and mix well. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into patties.
  7. Heat butter in a pan. Place patties in it and shallow fry till golden from both sides.
  8. Cut a burger bun into halves horizontally and toast them in the same pan. Cut 1 tomato into thin slices.
  9. Spread mayonnaise and tomato ketchup on both toasted bun halves. Place lettuce leaves on the base half and put tomato slices on top. Put some caramelized onion on top alongwith a patty. Top with some more caramelized onion, tomato slices and cover with the upper bun half. Place on a serving plate.
  10. Serve immediately
