Agedashi Dofu

Ingredients to make Agedashi Dofu

  • 2 blocks firm Tofu
  • 1 cup Dashi Soup Stock or chicken stock
  • 1 tbs Soy sauce
  • 1 tbs Mirin or rice wine
  • 1 tbsp Corn Starch
  • 1 tbsp Ginger grated
  • Vegetable Oil for frying
  • 1/4 tsp sugar

How to make Agedashi Dofu

  1. Wrap tofu with paper towels. Place it on a flat tray and place another flat tray or plate on top of the tofu. Let it sit for 15 mins.
  2. In a saucepan, put dashi, sugar, soy sauce and mirin. Bring to boil.
  3. Add corn starch and stir well.Remove from heat.
  4. Remove tofu from paper towels and cut into bite sized pieces.
  5. Heat oil in a deep frying pan.
  6. Coat tofu with corn starch. Fry until golden brown
  7. Transfer tofu in a serving dish and pour sauce over it.
  8. Serve with grated ginger on top.
