Ingredients to make Rose Sandesh

  • Milk - 2 litres
  • Lemon juice - 1.5 teaspoon
  • Powdered sugar - 8 tablespoons
  • Red Colour - 1 drop
  • Green Colour - 1 drop
  • Rose essence - 1 drop

How to make Rose Sandesh

  1. Heat the milk in a vessel. When it starts boiling add lemon juice. Stir continuously using a wooden spoon until it curdles completely. Remove from heat.
  2. Drain the curdled milk through a fine muslin cloth, tie the cloth for remaining water to drain for about 1 hour.
  3. Take chena or cottage cheese on a plate and start kneading with your heel of palms until it becomes soft.Add sugar and start kneading with your palms for 5 minutes
  4. Add rose essence and mix. Divide the dough into two parts
  5. Add red colour into one parts. Add green colour into another part
  6. To make rose with chena or cottage cheese : Take small portions of chena of red colour and make a small round
  7. Press the round to become flat. Roll thistogether to become the middle part of rose
  8. Make 3 circles by finger and hand to become petals. Attach the petals around the rose. Cut away the extra portion at bottom
  9. To make leaf : Take small portion of green coloured chena or cottage cheese and rolled out to make stem
  10. Take another small portion of chena and give shape of petal
  11. Giving shape of rose is optional, if you wish you can avoid colour also .and just make a round or square shaped sandesh and garnish with rose petals on top.
My Tip: You can also use store bought chena or paneer.
