Sesame Chili Sauce

Ingredients to make Sesame Chili Sauce

  • 4 tbsp sesame seeds ( I have used black sesame seeds)
  • 4 nos dried red chillis
  • 1 no green chilli
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 tbsp fresh coriander
  • 1/4 cup water
  • salt to taste

How to make Sesame Chili Sauce

  1. Heat a dry non stick fry pan over a medium heat. Add the sesame seeds and toast for about 1 minute. (I normally heat the pan and add the seeds, when it starts cracking. Then I remove the pan from the heat and keep swirling the pan for even heat and toasting.)
  2. Then remove the seeds on to a plate and let it cool.
  3. In the same dry pan, dry roast the red chillies and the whole tomatoes for about 2-3 minutes. Keep the flame simmer and stir often to avoid the burning of tomatoes.
  4. Once the tomatoes skin blister and start leaving juice, take it off the flame. Let it sit along with sesame seeds and cool.
  5. Combine the sesame seeds, red chillies, green chillies, tomatoes, crushed garlic, coriander and water in a food processor and blend for a minute into a sauce.
  6. Transfer the sauce into another serving bowl and serve it along with momos.
