Ingredients to make Ellu Thuvaiyal/ Black Sesame seeds Thuvaiyal

  • Ellu/Black Sesame seeds - 3 tablespoon
  • Red chillies - 4
  • Tamarind - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Oil - 1/4 teaspoon
  • salt as needed

How to make Ellu Thuvaiyal/ Black Sesame seeds Thuvaiyal

  1. Soak tamarind in little warm water and set aside.
  2. Heat kadai, dry roast ellu seeds till they splutter. Do it in low flame ithout burning them. This will take atleast 3 minutes.
  3. Transfer to a plate. In the same kadai add 1/4 tsp oil and roast the chillies for half a minute or so.
  4. Let cool and transfer the sesame seeds, red chilli, tamarind and little tamarind soaked water to mixie. Add salt and grind to a paste.
  5. Serve with Ulunthu Satham/Urad dal rice.

My Tip:

You can serve it with dosa/idli too. You can add some grated coconut to make it a chutney and temper with mustard and curry leaves.
