Dohneiihong- Potatoes with Black Sesame Seeds

Ingredients to make Dohneiihong- Potatoes with Black Sesame Seeds

  • 5 potatoes diced
  • 3 tbsp black sesame seeds, roasted and grounded to a paste
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp garlic, crushed
  • Salt
  • 4 green chillies, slit
  • 1/2 lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp Sarson ka tel/ Mustard Oil

How to make Dohneiihong- Potatoes with Black Sesame Seeds

  1. Heat oil in a kadhai. Add the diced potatoes and fry till they are slightly reddish.
  2. Now add the ginger and garlic, keep frying till the raw smell goes away. Then add the sesame paste, green chillies and salt. Cover and let the potatoes cook.
  3. Once done, fry it for a minute and add the chopped coriander and lemon juice.
  4. Mix it well and serve with salad and tomato chutney on the side.

My Tip:

Instead of potatoes you could also use finely chopped cucumber or radish, you can even try it with banana flowers and add raw thinly sliced onions. To make other accompaniments such as salad, finely chop lettuce and cabbage leaves and mix together. Add 1 tbsp mustard oil, finely chopped green chillies, pepper powder, salt and mix well. To make tomato chutney, roast 2 tomatoes, add green chillies as per taste with 2or 3 garlic pods. Pulse it just once in the mixer and it's ready to be served.
