Food eaten on a fasting day

Citron rice ( no onions and no garlic)

Ingredients to make Citron rice ( no onions and no garlic)

  • Citron - 1
  • Sesame oil- 2 tsps
  • mustard seeds- 1 tsp
  • urad dal- 1 tsp
  • chana dal- 1 tsp
  • green chillies - 2 chopped finely
  • ginger- little chopped finely
  • peanuts- a few
  • curry leaves- garnishing
  • Cooked rice- 1 cup
  • turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  • salt- to taste
  • hing powder- a little

How to make Citron rice ( no onions and no garlic)

  1. Take a kadayi
  2. Add sesame oil
  3. Tadka with mustard seeds, urad dal, Channa dal, green chillies , ginger and curry leaves
  4. Roast peanuts and keep aside
  5. Add turmeric powder, salt, hing powder,
  6. Add cooked rice and mix well
  7. Once its cooked squeeze citron juice to the rice when cooled
  8. Mix well and serve with chips and lemon pickle

My Tip:

Squeeze like lemon..if you want you can add little salt so that its not bitter
