About ITALIAN MEAT LOAF Recipe

Italian Meat Loaf is a great main dish with flavors of parmesan cheese, Mozzarella cheese, yellow bell pepper, red bell pepper, Italian seasoning and olive oil. Bread crumbs and egg acts as a binding agent with a classic accompaniment of homemade Marinara sauce.

ITALIAN MEAT LOAF

Ingredients to make ITALIAN MEAT LOAF

  • Minced meat 400 grams(goat meat)
  • White onion 1
  • garlic cloves chopped 4
  • tomato diced 1
  • Red bell pepper diced 1/2
  • Yellow bell pepper diced 1/2
  • egg 1
  • tomato sauce 2 teaspoon
  • Italian seasoning 1 tablespoon
  • Bread crumbs 1 cup
  • Parmesan cheese 1 cup
  • Mozzarella cheese shredded 1 cup
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • For Marinara sauce preparation
  • tomato sauce 1 cup
  • garlic cloves chopped 3
  • Italian seasoning 1 teaspoon
  • olive oil 2 tablespoon
  • chilli flakes 1/4 teaspoon
  • Worcester sauce 1/2 teaspoon
  • sugar 1 teaspoon
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • coriander leaves for garnishing
  • mint leaves for garnishing
  • Black olives 6

How to make ITALIAN MEAT LOAF

  1. In a pan saute garlic and onion till translucent with a teaspoon of olive oil.
  2. Add red, yellow bell pepper, tomatoes and Italian seasoning sweating the vegetables until liquid evaporates, about 5 minutes. Set it aside to cool.
  3. In a separate pan over medium heat saute garlic until fragrant then add tomato sauce and mix well.
  4. Season with Italian seasoning, chilli flakes Worcester sauce, sugar, salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Combine minced meat, bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, Mozzarella cheese, egg, little Marinara sauce, sauteed vegetables, Worcester sauce and salt and pepper to taste. Form into a loaf using your hands and mix well till all are well combined.
  6. Make a loaf and place it in a greased bread tin with a parchment paper. Coat the top of the loaf with Marinara sauce evenly using a spoon. Add Mozzarella cheese on top.
  7. Bake at 180 degree centigrade for 45 minutes or until the meat is well cooked. Let it stand for 10 minutes before cutting.
  8. Garnish it with coriander leaves, mint leaves, black olives and grated Parmesan cheese. Serve hot.

My Tip:

Baking time differs from oven to oven. It took 45 minutes to cook in my oven.
