Ingredients to make Mamidikaya Pachi Pulusu

  • 2 nos : Raw mangoes / Kairi
  • 2 cups : water
  • 1 small : onion chopped
  • 2 nos : Dry red chillies
  • 2 nos : green chillies slit
  • 1 tsp : oil
  • 1/4 tsp : mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp : cumin seeds
  • few curry leaves
  • Few sprigs coriander chopped
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp : Sugar / jaggery

How to make Mamidikaya Pachi Pulusu

  1. Boil the raw mangoes using 2 cups of water in a pressure cooker until soft and mushy.
  2. Later cool them at room temperature and using a strainer extract its pulp by discarding its skin and seeds, set aside.
  3. In a small sauce pan add oil, once hot add the mustard, cumin seeds and allow them to splutter.
  4. Later add the red chillies , green chillies , curry leaves and saute for a minute and turn off the heat..
  5. Now remove the mango pulpy broth into a bowl and add half cup of water to it and adjust its consistency to pouring.
  6. Next add the tempering prepared along with salt , sugar , chopped onion and coriander, give it a good stir.
  7. Mamidikaya pachi pulusu is ready to be served with hot rice !!

My Tip:

Do not add more water as the mango flavor fades .. You can add pearl onions or shallots in place of chopped onions too... Adjust salt and sugar depending on the sourness of mangoes...
