Ingredients to make Curry Leaf Gravy/ Karvepillai Kuzhambu

  • curry leaves - 1 cup, pressed
  • green chillies - 2
  • garlic cloves - 6
  • mustard seeds - 1/8 tsp
  • fenugreek seeds - 1/8 tsp
  • jeera - 1/8 tsp
  • urad dal - 1/8 tsp
  • onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • tamarind pulp - 1/4 tsp
  • Sambar powder - 1/2 tsp
  • jaggery - 1/2 tsp, chopped
  • pepper powder - 1/8 tsp
  • turmeric - 1/8 tsp
  • oil - 1 tsp
  • salt

How to make Curry Leaf Gravy/ Karvepillai Kuzhambu

  1. Grind curry leaves, green chillies and 3 garlic cloves. Add water if required and make a fine paste. Keep aside
  2. Crush the remaining garlic cloves and chop fine.
  3. Heat oil in a pan. Put in urad dal, fenugreek seeds, mustard seeds and jeera.
  4. When it splutters, put in the onion and garlic. Fry till lightly brown.
  5. Add tamarind paste, curry leaf paste, sambar powder and jaggery and cook for a while.
  6. Add turmeric powder, pepper powder and salt. Mix and cook for a while till the raw smell goes.
  7. Serve hot with rice.
