  • 1 bowl kabli chana (soaked overnight)
  • 2 cup water
  • 1 big size onion finely chhoped
  • 2 medium size tomato finely chhoped
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2 green chillies finely chhoped
  • 1 tsp red chilly powder
  • 1tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp asafoetida
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp wheat flour
  • Fresh coriander leaves

How to make Oil Free Chole

  1. Take kabli Chana in a pressure cooker and cook for 5 whistles
  2. Release the steam, drain water and wash chana in cold water
  3. Add all the ingredients except coriander leaves and lemon juice
  4. Take washed chana in the pressure cooker again, add water and cook for three whistles
  5. Release the steam
  6. Add lemon juice, crush some Chana and Add 1/2 tsp of wheat flour
  7. Cook for 2 mins
  8. Garnish with green coriander leaves and serve hot

My Tip:

Wheat flour is completely optional, for it thickens the chhole. One boiled and mashed potato can also be used for the same purpose
